On October 11th, 2008 my mother, Melanie, and her fiance, Rainey finally tied the knot. Congratulations you two! I hope that you live out the rest of your lives together hopelessly consumed by love for one another.
In celebration I’m putting up more pictures in a single post than I ever have. We made some great memories at the wedding service and the reception that followed, and it seems only right to commemorate that here. Also, inspired by this particular post, I have included a new category titled “Family Pictures and Events,” which, as the name suggests, is geared strictly toward my family. If you are interested in looking at the pics I’ve posted here in previous entries (dating all the way back to the conception of this site, over three years ago… how time flies), it’s now as easy as clicking on that category (or right here if you’re lazy).
To those not savvy to the idea of “cutting” a post, just click on the “Read More” link at the bottom of the pictures for… more pictures.

Happy 25th anniversary, Uncle Muck and Aunt Lisa! |

Dina and I took Cedric to my Aunt and Uncle’s 25th wedding anniversary party tonight. It was a blast. Lots of dancing and drinking… both were in full force tonight.
Most of these pics are of Cedric (can you blame me?). Hope that you guys get a laugh from them. We sure did.

Momma teaching the little man to dance.

My grandparents sharing a moment. I love you guys.

Cedric and Matthew dancing it up a bit.

Rainey (My mother’s Fiancee… not sure I spelled his name correctly) dancing with Cedric.

Dina getting her groove on with my cousins and other girls who I don’t know.

Cedric getting his mini-groove on with the ladies… he makes me look so bad.

Musical chairs… Cedric won the whole sha-bang. While I’m on the subject I’ll say that both myself and my cousin-in-law (is that even a real title?), Sam, both helped to take Muck and Lisa –whose party this was– out of the game. Yeah… we owned you at your own party!!!

“You know I got this shit in the bag, bitches” –Cedric (just prior to his musical chairs victory)
…no he didn’t really say that.

Me burying my face in the chest of my sister’s boyfriend, Tim. I felt so safe there. Tim… call me.

My sister, Erin, and I dancing to Rihanna’s “Umbrella” song. Tia, I had a great time with you tonight! Love ya!

We’re back from our California vacation… what could be more depressing? There is nothing that sucks harder than coming home from a long vacation and having to deal with reality again. Blech. Oh well, atleast I took a *&^% load of pictures… over 1,000 total, and I’m not kidding. You can imagine how difficult it was for me to pick and choose which images to display here. I’ve been at it all day, and after my many hours of hunting I have edited and re-sized 18 pictures that I believe will give you guys an idea as to how our vacation went. I’ll display the first five without a break in the post, but you’ll have to click on the more link to view the remaining thirteen… I really don’t want to take up too much space.
Well… enjoy!

Every morning Taran would wake up with this awesome bed-head.

That’s right… I met Batman and his love-slave, Robin. The vacation could have ended there and I would have gone home happy.

Cedric and I on the plane ride… LegoLand style.

Cedric on the joust ride.

Cedric the pirate kills his sister. Things will never be the same again.

On vacation in Disneyland |

Here comes the random picture of Dina and I… drinking large beers in Disneyworld’s Epcot Center…

Photo: Taran (4/2006)
Okay… I’ve put my random picture up.
We’ve been to Disneyworld, and now we’re going to Disneyland with the kids. We’re very excited about this vacation because it will reunite us with Dina’s parents and grandmother, who live in California. Cedric and I have highlighted the 18th on our calendar (this is the day that we depart), and we’ve been counting the days every morning. Since we only seem capable of affording a vacation like this once every two years, you can imagine our excitement. Add to that the fact that Cedric is now tall enough to go on every ride except for the Indianna Jones Adventures. You can’t see it, but I’ve been overcome by an A.D.D. attack.
As I said prior to our departure for our last Disney vacation: I’m not too sorry to say that there will be no more posts from me until I get back.
Expect a post similar to my post-disneyworld trip with pictures from our California experience to come near the beginning of May.

“Earl and Rudolph”
My Aunt Kristen took this picture of me at Funtown USA in Saco, Maine this summer. I felt that it is a perfect way to lead off this post. I don’t have much to say other than this:
I’m 26 now… big deal.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL! I hope that you are having a great holiday season. I also hope that you are with your family. There is no better way to spend the holidays… or so I keep telling myself (so deluded).

Happy Halloween |

Yeah, I know that I’m a day late, but we got back so late from trick-or-treating the other night that I just passed out. We had a great time cruising the neighborhood in search of the ultimate candy haul, and the results were quite satisfying for Cedric and D’Anna.
This marks the first year that we felt lame enough to dress the dog up, and as you will see in the pictures below, she looked like a complete dummy in her costume (not that she doesn’t look stupid enough without it). The only problem that we faced taking this dog trick-or-treating was that she would bark incessantly at any person who answered the door for the kids. It didn’t take long for me to alter the game-plan and just keep her in the car with me while Dina and the kids did their thing. This didn’t stop her from barking though… blech. This will probably be the last year she comes with us.
I could write alot more about our Halloween, but I’m pretty sure that my endless Dog Tale has already put you to sleep. I’ll now make with the pictures…

Cedric as Batman! I love that he’s in this stage.

D’Anna, keeping with the Batman theme as Catwoman.

The moron as Snow White.

Setting out in search of candy… and people to bark at for no reason.

The haul… they ate half of it that very night. What is amazing is that they didn’t get sick!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! Next stop… Thanksgiving.
Mmmm… mom’s banana cream pie.

A trip to my happy place |

Dina and I took the family to Rangeley, Maine this weekend for a little R&R at my grandparents’ camp, and I must say that after six months of non-stop work it felt good to relax a bit. I think that it’s quite evident that I haven’t had time for anything when you review the number of posts that I’ve logged here for each of the spring and summer months; one, at best, for each. But I don’t want to get on another Earl bitching about his summer session… here are some pics from the family retreat.

This is the first time that I can remember when I was able to catch the fall foliage. Here is a great shot over the “height of the land” overlooking Mooselookmuguntic lake.

My little idiot dog getting excited over… well… I can’t remember, but I will say that the stuffed coyote in the background really freaked her out the first time she saw it.

Myself and the little man playing a game of Whist with my grandfather. It’s a family obsession.

Canadian Blue Jays will literally eat bread right out of your hand. Too bad for Cedric and D’Anna, they had already had their fill when Dina fed them a few minutes earlier. The woman is a bird nerd.

The little man playing his Nintendo DS on the way home… a good way to pass three hours of travel time.
That’s that for now. Expect another post later this week addressing the meeting that Jeff and I will be having to go over the graphic novel later this week.

Time to get back to work |
| October 8th, 2007 under About "Trea'Loong: Fann's Ascent", Chasing The Dream, Family Pictures and Events. [ Comments: none ]

Well, today marks the last day of the grueling summer job that Jeff — my partner for the graphic novel I’m working on — and I share at a local restaurant called The Oarweed. Basically, this is the best day of the year for the two of us because it means that we will be getting started full-time on Trea’Loong: Fann’s Ascent again! I must admit that Jeff has to put in ALOT more time down at the Oarweed than I do, so I have had a little time since May to work on the second installment in what will likely be a ten volume tale. Jeff on the other hand, who is responsible for all of the artwork, has absolutely no time at all. He’s part owner of the place, so he is there more than 70 hours per week. It’s crazy. I’m sure that you all can imagine how frustrated we were to have to put the graphic novel project on hold for nearly six months. Thankfully we can now become fully immersed in it again. Expect more frequent posts on our progress from this point on –incoming smiley face–
I can’t believe I just did that…
Anyway, I’ll keep this post short. I hope that you are all enjoying the fall season… I never did before, but I find that over the last few years I’ve done some of my best work when the leaves begin to fall. We’ll see how this seasonal period of inspiration affects the graphic novel.
I’ll leave you all with some pictures of myself and the fools that my wife and I work with at the Oarweed. These pictures are from the party we held at the restaurant tonight (which basically takes the form of us finishing what is left in the beer kegs and bottles of wine):

Emily and I

My “completely sane” manager, Steve

My partner for Trea’Loong, Jeff Fitzgerald

Dina and Jeff (the official morning cleaning crew… they can send autographed pictures at your request)

My co-workers (from left: Mike, Me, The Tin Man, and Steve) humping me… who could resist? Blech… I feel so used

Everyone completely… um… er… sober… in the service bar

The four of us posing… with Steve still trying to grab my balls… you see what I have to work with down there
