“SUPER BOWL!” “SUPER BOWL!” “SUPER BOWL!” “SUPER BOWL!”
February 1st, 2007 Current Events

That’s right you bastards, I put “SUPER BOWL” up FOUR TIMES in big letters on my website, and it’s gonna pop up several more times in this post. In quotations, no less! Gonna shut me down now?

As reflected in my last few posts, football conspiracies really piss me off. I just can’t stand it, and I’m unable to keep it from getting under my skin and making my blood boil. Why do I bring this up now? The following article was taken from si.com:

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The NFL has nixed a church’s plans to use a wall projector to show the Colts-Bears Super Bowl game, saying it would violate copyright laws.

NFL officials spotted a promotion of Fall Creek Baptist Church’s “Super Bowl Bash” on the church Web site last week and overnighted a letter to the pastor demanding the party be canceled, the church said.

Initially, the league objected to the church’s plan to charge a fee to attend and that the church used the license-protected words “Super Bowl” in its promotions.

Pastor John D. Newland said he told the NFL his church would not charge anyone and that it would drop the use of the forbidden words.

But the NFL objected to the church’s plans to use a projector to show the game, saying the law limits it to one TV no bigger than 55 inches.

How does the NFL get off forcing a church to cancel it’s “SUPER BOWL” party just because their screen is bigger than 55 inches? This is ridiculous… absolutely ridiculous! What if I have a 60-inch plasma at home and I want to watch the “SUPER BOWL” on that with a bunch of friends? Is the NFL going to shut me down too? And where the hell does this 55 inches measurement even come from anyway? What kind of country are we living in where laws limit people from watching a sport event on a certain size television. What a load of bull-shit.

…they’ve got me cursing now… great.

Now to address the whole thing with the license-protected “SUPER BOWL” name… try this one on for size, NFL: Fuck the “SUPER BOWL.”

I’ll be watching it because it’s entertaining as hell and I’m not strong enough to resist it with a boycott… but I’ll still be angry!

…and now the countdown begins… not until the game, but rather until the NFL shuts down my site for using the words…

“SUPER BOWL”

What kind of a world do we live in that a sports league takes action against a church and forbidding good clean fun.
I think there may be a conspiracy between the big alcohol company and the league. Who is it that is one of the sponsers for this big event?
The church was clearly not going to have alcohol. Hmmmm…
LOL! J/k… kinda… :P
All kidding aside. It is an outrage!

I could really care less about the fact that it was a church that got caught up in all of this, though that does ad to the extreme nature of what happened. The whole thing just pisses me off. I’m going to cut myself off now so that I don’t go on another rant…
