I Love British Film Makers
September 1st, 2006 Unrelated Posts

I have cut-and-pasted the following article from IMDB.com to my blog here because I love movies almost as much as I love writing… and I hate the president almost as much as I hate war:

Fake TV Documentary ‘Death of a President’ Praised, Panned

A controversial British film titled Death of a President, which takes place in the not-too-distant future and revolves around the assassination of President Bush in 2007 is due to have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 10, the film’s producers, Britain’s Channel 4, announced Thursday. The film, which resembles an actual documentary, had previously been listed by the festival as ‘”D.O.A.P.”. Gretchen Essell, spokeswoman for the Republican Party in Texas, told the British wire service Press Association, “I cannot support a video that would dramatize the assassination of our president, real or imagined. … I find this shocking, I find it disturbing. I don’t know if there are many people in America who would want to watch something like that.” But Peter Dale, head of Channel 4’s digital channel More4, which plans to air the film on Oct. 9, said: “It’s a pointed political examination of what the War on Terror did to the American body politic. … It’s not sensationalist or simplistic but a very thought-provoking, powerful drama. I hope people will see that the intention behind it is good.”

My favorite part is Essell’s comment, “I don’t know if there are many people in America who would want to watch something like that.” I know that I would like to see it. I don’t often (ever) bring up my own political views here, but this is my blog afterall, and if I can’t speak my mind here then where can I? I’m not saying that I would like to see the president assasinated, but I am saying that, again, I HATE HIM! There… I said it twice. I swear to god that if I see any secret service agents knocking at my door in the next few days I’ll be pissed.

What does everybody else think?

Personally, I detest George Bush as well. I think he is a spoiled rich boy who has no sense of what he is doing. He and his rich boy friends think they are above the law, and I think that threatens our democracy. There is nothing worse than looking at the man who is leading your country and the idiot can’t even speak! Not to mention the reputation he has made for the US in the world.

I was watching the news when I got home from work last night and the story came on about this movie. Seriously, I would like to see it. I saw a couple of screenshots and it was crazy how much the guy looked like Bush. Thank God for computers!

I too don’t want to see any secret service agents at my door… This is a test, this is only a test…

O.K., I had to add something else. I think the only thing more idiotic than our president is all these “Christians” who back him up because he claims to be a christian. War in the name of God is on the same level as the terrorists if you ask me. The Christians of this nation need to pull their heads out of their ass instead of believing every thing their preachers tell them. God gave you a brain people. USE IT! There is nothing worse than people who don’t think for themselves, and certainly I think all people should constantly question their religion.

It does bring me to a quote from Buddha:
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. Do not believe anything because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything because it is written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and the benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

And that’s all I have to say about that… For now at least!

I agree with you completeley, and I love how you touched upon the whole “war in the name of God” thing. The word jihad does, in fact, mean “holy war.” Perhaps the war in Iraq (and soon-to-be wars elsewhere) should be called Bush’s Jihad(s).

Friggin’ war criminal.

I suppose that all I have to say is…

TINA FOR PRESIDENT! 2008!
