Before I share the remainder of my flood damage pictures with you all, I just have to say that I’m glad I braved the storm and got these shots before it was over. I took a drive with my wife and son out to all of these locations once again today in an attempt to catch some re-construction, and was caught off guard by the newly appointed National Guardsmen who were standing sentinel over them. They wouldn’t let us get near anything! It’s a good thing for me that the government was so slow in reacting to what happened, otherwise I would have never gotten these pictures at all.
Here are the rest of the images I captured (ENJOY!):
My illegal trek beyond the police tape at the Cape Neddick Bridge!

A better shot of the bridge on Logging Road… or what’s left of it anyway…

A washed out bridge on Captain Thomas Road… if you look close enough you can actually see the post marking the Ogunquit border still hanging from the edge of it to the left!

Though this dog looks like he is pretty stupid, he was smart enough to hang out in this boat during the storms just in case the water rose too high. (This one is for you, Mom!)

What a crazy storm that was. Many of my friends and family believe that this is just the beginning of a whole barrage of harsh weather to come this summer. More thunderstorms than usual, and even the possibility of a hurricane or two actually hitting New England are just a couple of things that they expect. I recall hearing something about meteorologists backing up such theories, but I can’t recall where. Oh well, if any of you have heard anything be sure to comment below.
Hope everyone is doing well and staying dry!
By the way, the dog in the picture above is my mother’s Shih Tzu, Verdell. He’s a big snob… always kicking dirt in other dogs’ faces, but he’s a good boy.
