“The Bloodlines of Rollinsford” Excerpt
June 12th, 2005 under About "The Bloodlines of Rollinsford". [ Comments: 3 ]

WARNING: This excerpt is very graphic, and I advise against reading it if you are uncomfortable with violent and disturbing images of childbirth. It is a very necessary part of the book, and I trust that those of you who choose to read it will understand that I portray the birth of Ezeth in this manner in order to show the evil comes to dominate him, as a result of his diabolical nature, later on in the story. This still remains one of my favorite manuscripts, and I trust that those of you who decide to read it will understand how I create a whole new spin on the already tired Vampire genre.

The following concept art was created by Dina Yorke in the winter of 2002. Though she insists that it isn’t her best, and that they were just doodles done for fun, I insisted that they be posted here. Our compromise is represented below… she allowed me to post three of my favorite ones:

Earl Yorke\'s Journal

The following is taken from the journal of Earl Yorke, December 25, 2002:

For the first time in nearly three years I am turning to the pages of a journal. This book [a journal with a very elaborate vampire theme including an embossed, rubber vampire claw reaching out of a coffin on the cover] was a gift from my Aunt Kristen, and I admit that it suits me very well. I am a starving artist (writer) who has completed a three-book epic series surrounding Vampires (hence, my aunt, in all of her creativity when it comes to gift-giving gave me this journal with a Kindred theme). The trilogy is titled “The Focus of Bloodlines.” Individually, the books are (1) “The Bloodlines of Rollinsford,” (2) “The Book of Bloodlines,” and (3) “The Focus of Bloodlines.” A constant theme in this journal will be my struggle for publication of my work… of this I need not be precognitive to know. The following is taken from the journal of Earl Yorke, December 26, 2002:

Dina and I just finished calling all of our “references” on our application for an appartment in South Berwick. They’re all fake of course; family members posing as friends, but we’re desperate and we really want this appartment… BADLY. I feel like Ezeth, trying to evade the Romu’ateb just so that I can stay alive [nobody, save for a few, will understand what the "Romu'ateb" are until "The Focus of Bloodlines" is published, but I'll say this... Vampire Evolution]. Read more »

The following is taken from the journal of Earl Yorke, December 31, 2002:

I think that I will soon retire for the night. It is 3:32 in the morning, and my interests seem to be drifting. I am finding trouble getting into “The Dominance Flush” and “The Sin of Caine” [a manuscript that was originally going to be the beginning of another Vampire triology, but I wanted to avoid getting stuck writing vamp books for the rest of my life... I actually don't think I wrote a single line in that manuscript after this night]. I do hope that my writer’s block is not coming back to haunt me from that b.s. with my ex-agent. Read more »

The following is taken from the journal of Earl Yorke, January 3, 2003:

We’re doing laundry. It has taken us five loads (and $10.00) to do it all, but we are finally getting our clothes washed. The laundry room here in the apartment complex is filthy . I’m a bit creeped out by it, but in my world the things that creep me out are my outlets for creation… my books! He he he he! [good grief, I was so lame in those days... I can just see it now: "The Haunted Laundry Room"] Read more »
