My cousin Nathan Dufresne (seen in the picture below at the York High School Senior Convocation Ceremony) is a distinguished example of selfless nobility for all teens to consider…

I recently attented Nathan’s graduation party at his home here in Southern Maine, and I was both shocked and excited to find that it was a much larger event than I had previously anticipated it to be. The turnout was massive, with family and friends from all over the state — and beyond — in attendence… Nate certainly deserved no less.
Before I get into my experience at the party (“Familiar Faces…”), I want to briefly identify Nathan’s successes that have earned him the recognition that has come to the attention of people all over the state. Nathan’s was recently featured on a broadcast of Bruce Glasier’s Varsity Club by local news station WCSH. Among Nathan’s various accomplishments that were highlighted on the show, his success in procuring a heart defribullator (donated by Saco Orthopedics) for York High School is one of his most significant. After a fatal incident where a young football player collapsed and died on the field from heart-related complications, the idea of having a device that could save other teens who might suffer from similar, heart-related debilitations was little more than simply a possibility.
Nathan’s determination to secure the defribullator came from an assignment to somehow better his school or community in his “Advanced Placement Political Studies” class. As daunting as his task was, Nathan was able to accomplish everything without having to resort to any fundraising at all! Thanks to Nathan and Saco Orthopedics, the York High School athletics program will be prepared for such a life-threatening incident, should it occur again.
In addition to Nathan’s accomplishments in High School (which include being a Varsity Athelete in multiple sports, and an active member of York High School’s National Honor Society), he has earned a full scholarship to the Coast Guard Academy (an apparent value of over $300,000)! The entire Yorke family is very proud of Nathan, and will continue to enjoy his successes in the bright future that now stretches out before him.
Congrats, Cuz!
