The Journal of Earl Yorke
June 11th, 2005 The Journal of Earl Yorke (2002-2003)

The following is taken from the journal of Earl Yorke, January 22, 2003:

Today will be a working day for me, and I don’t mean that I will be writing all day. I have a “dumpster run” to make, laundry to do, and a messy appartment to tidy up.

Yesterday was a great dissapointment for me. I got another rejection letter from the agency in California. It was, by far, the worst one yet. It took me a moment to realize that it was a rejection; the thing did not directly indicate that I was being rejected… it seemed to simply allude to it. Needless to say, it made me very upset, but after an all-nighter spent downloading (and listening to) angry music I managed to keep my mind off of my dwindling hope for long enough to get over it.

I crawled into bed at sometime around 7:00 AM, and slept for a good four hours. Dina informed me that I had been having what must have been some very intense dreams. I cannot describe them as I can’t remember what they were of, but Dina says that I was talking in my sleep so much that she could not sleep in. She wasn’t angry… in fact she was quite amused by the great deal of chuckling that I did.

On a different note, I’ve began writing a short-story to compete with my other two projects [”The Dominance Flush,” and “The Sin of Caine”] for my attention. The plot is nothing new to me. It follows the life of the mysterious “Hydromaniac” character, Corgan Banner, who I came up with long ago in the childhood daydreams that would join me during my one-mile bike ride to “Brookes Farm” [a deli in Ogunquit Village that I worked in as my first summer job… it’s not there anymore, and I miss it greatly]. I’m not sure if I will continue with this one, as it is becoming quite lame in my opinion [Looking back now at that time when my creativity was suffering due to the worsening of my writer’s block, I can honestly say that the short-story I am referring to was the worst one I have ever written]. I’ll end this entry on that note… no need to describe exactly how lameit is…
